Frequently asked questions
97 short, verifiable answers: platform, card, candidacies, online voting, observers, and the difficult questions about trust and ballot secrecy.
The platform and the app
What is the official website?+
camco.allcommunity.online, and the Android app, which you can download from the “App” page. Please report any other address to the Commission.
Does the platform work in English?+
Yes. The FR / EN buttons at the top of every page change the language; messages (WhatsApp, e-mail) are sent in the language chosen in your record.
How do I install the app?+
Android: “App” page → “Download the Android app”. iPhone: open the website in Safari → Share → “Add to Home Screen”.
Does the app update itself?+
The content does: it always comes from the website. When a new Android version comes out, the app offers to download it.
Where can I find the guides?+
In Help (menu and footer): the member, candidate and observer guides, online with pictures and in PDF, and these frequently asked questions.
What is a flash ad?+
A short ad between members, with one or two photos and your WhatsApp number, in one of two lists: Services offered (“I offer”: you provide a service or an item) or Services wanted (“I'm looking for”: you need a service). There is no approval: all members are notified at the start time; the notification opens the ad directly so they can contact the person. A request expires automatically 5 days after it starts; an offer expires at the latest 14 days after (14 days by default). When it expires, the ad disappears for everyone; if needed, you must publish it again. Expired ads are kept for 30 days in quarantine, then deleted. The bureau can cancel an ad that is not appropriate.
What is forbidden in flash ads?+
Strictly forbidden: illegal, fraudulent or misleading content; ads related to animals; adult or pornographic content; gambling and betting ads. Any account that breaks these rules is automatically suspended and removed from the CAMCO community. Do you see a forbidden ad? Tap “Report forbidden content”: the bureau is alerted.
How do I choose my neighbourhood?+
In My space → Update (or during the member update), choose your neighbourhood from the list: FAISAL, SHEIKH ZAYED, MAADI, SAKAN MISR, 6 OCTOBER, ALEXANDRIE, HORAS VALLEY TOWERS, MOHANDESSIN. You live somewhere else? Choose “Other neighbourhood…” and type its name.
Why vote online on CAMCO decisions?+
Because many members cannot attend meetings: distance, travel, work, family. Online votes let every member, wherever they are, take part in decisions without travelling, from their phone. These are not online general assemblies: in-person meetings continue, and the app lets everyone take part in the major decisions.
How do I vote on the statute articles?+
My space → Votes and consultations → open the vote, then for each article tap For, Against or Abstention and tap "Submit my votes". You can vote in several goes before the deadline; each vote is final and gives a receipt code.
Is my vote on the statutes secret?+
Yes. Only your participation (having voted on a given question, at a given time) is recorded in your name. Your choice goes into an anonymous ballot box: neither the Commission nor anyone else can know what you voted.
How is an article adopted?+
According to the rule announced when the vote opens (simple majority, two thirds of votes cast or two thirds of registered members) and any minimum turnout. After the deadline, the Commission checks the calculation, validates the results and publishes a report in the WhatsApp group and on the platform.
Why are some votes "priority" or locked?+
Vote 1 "Élections 2026" sets the rules for the December elections (elected posts, candidacy fees and conditions, age, card, single candidacy) and remote participation: it must be settled before the candidacies. It is therefore priority and mandatory. Until you have answered all its questions, the other statute votes show a padlock 🔒; you can read them, and they unlock as soon as you have finished the priority vote.
Do I have to vote on all 51 questions at once?+
No. After the priority vote (10 questions), the other articles are put to the vote in categories of 4 to 6 questions, opened one by one by the Commission then by the next Bureau, until February-March 2027. In each vote you can also answer in several goes before the deadline.

How do I get notifications at the top of my phone screen?+
Android app: update it (version 1.9.81 or later), open it and sign in to My space, then allow notifications if the phone asks. iPhone: in Safari, tap Share then “Add to Home Screen”, open CAMCO from the home screen, then My space → Notifications → Turn on notifications. Computer or Android browser: My space → Notifications → Turn on notifications. Communications, announcements, votes, payments and news then show up instantly, like a WhatsApp message.
I don't receive notifications: what should I do?+
Check that you are signed in to My space on this phone and that CAMCO notifications are allowed in the phone (or browser) settings. The “Send a test notification” button on the Notifications page lets you check. If you share the phone, notifications go to the last member who signed in.
Where can I see my past votes?+
In My space → Votes and consultations → "My participation and the results": for each vote, the number of questions voted, the date and the published results.
What is the “CAMCO sponsor” screen?+
When the app opens, just after the CAMCO logo, a screen shows the current sponsor for two seconds. Tap “Skip” to close it straight away. It is never shown in the voting area or on the results.
How can I make my business known in the app?+
My space → Become a sponsor: choose the placement (opening screen, banner or sponsored service) and a free period, add your logo, pay, then declare your payment. Once the Commission approves it, your ad appears and stops by itself on the planned dates.
How much does sponsorship cost and where does the money go?+
From 300 USD a week for the banner and from 500 USD a week for the opening screen (full price list in “Become a sponsor”). Every payment gives a numbered receipt; the revenue goes into a separate “Sponsorship” fund, shared equally between the CAMCO community and the platform.
Member update and member space
Who must do the update?+
All members already registered with CAMCO. New members are registered by the Commission when they join, then confirm through a link.
I don't know my member number.+
Ask the bureau (+20 114 684 6864) before the update: it is required, because it is used to find your record.
The platform says I am not a member.+
Your number, surname, first names or WhatsApp number do not match the register. Check the spelling; if your WhatsApp number has changed, contact the bureau to update it.
The code does not arrive.+
Check the country and the number (or the e-mail address and your spam folder), wait one minute, then ask for a new code. You can also choose the other channel (WhatsApp or e-mail).
I have changed my WhatsApp number or my e-mail.+
Before the freeze on 21 November, contact the bureau (+20 114 684 6864): it checks your identity and updates your record. For security, a message is sent to the old WhatsApp number. Your phone number for calls, however, can be changed in “My space”.
My photo was refused.+
You receive a link (valid for 7 days) to upload a new one: facing the camera, light background, face and shoulders visible, no sunglasses and no filter.
Can I have a password?+
Yes. In “My space”, choose a password: you can then sign in with your member number, your e-mail or your WhatsApp number and this password.
Can other members see my details?+
No. Only you and the Commission can see them. The voter list shows only names and numbers, and only to members who have identified themselves.
Membership card and voter list
What is the 2027-2029 card for?+
It is the digital card (photo and QR code) that serves as your voter card in 2026 and as your membership card for the whole 2027-2029 term (resolution R6 submitted to the EGA).
How much does it cost?+
100 USD for existing members. For a fellow Cameroonian who has never registered: 250 USD in a single payment, membership and card included (R7).
How do I pay?+
In cash to a member of the Commission, or by Zelle to the account published by the Commission. Every payment gives a numbered receipt; always insist on it.
Until when can I get my card?+
Until Friday 13 November 2026 at 11:59 pm.
Why is my card not available yet?+
Either your photo has not yet been approved by the Commission, or the payment is missing. The “My card” page shows what is missing.
How do I show my card?+
My space → My card: full screen, or download as an image (JPEG) and as a PDF. The QR code lets anyone check that it is genuine.
How do I check that I am on the voter list?+
Provisional list published on 16 November: Members area → Provisional electoral list. Claims until 20 November; final list on 21 November.
What happens after 21 November?+
The list is frozen: nobody can add a voter or change a voter's identity or contact details any more.
Candidacies
Which positions are to be filled?+
President of the Executive Bureau, treasurer, auditor and President of the Committee (resolutions R1 and R2).
What are the candidacy fees?+
5,000 USD (President of the Executive Bureau), 3,000 USD (treasurer), 2,000 USD (auditor), 2,500 USD (President of the Committee), non-refundable (R3).
What are the conditions?+
Those of resolution R9: 21 years old, active member, Cameroonian nationality, 1 year of residence (10 years for the President of the Committee), residence permit, consular card, passport valid for 6 months, not sitting on the Transition Committee or the Commission; a lease for the two presidents; living as a couple for the President of the Committee. Details in the Candidate guide.
And if the EGA does not adopt these conditions?+
Only the conditions of Article VII of the 2022 statutes apply. The Commission publishes this straight away and adapts the online file.
Can I stand for two positions?+
No. A candidate stands for only one position.
When do I submit my file?+
From 31 October to 7 November 2026 at 11:59 pm, online. Review from 8 to 10 November, provisional list on 11 November, appeals on 11 and 12 November, final list on 13 November.
Will my documents be published?+
No. They stay confidential. Only your photo, your name, your position, your colour and your programme (optional) are published.
How do I choose my colour?+
In your file, from the palette offered. A colour already taken for your position is greyed out; your colour is locked when your candidacy is accepted.
Voting online step by step
When do we vote?+
On Saturday 12 December 2026, from 8 am to 8 pm (Charlotte time (ET)). A trial vote is open from 21 November to 2 December.
What do I need to vote?+
Your registered e-mail, your voter number (FC26-…) printed on your card, and your phone (WhatsApp) or your e-mail inbox to receive the code.
How long does voting take?+
Two to three minutes. The ballot shows a 15-minute countdown; if time runs out, identify yourself again.
Can I change my mind?+
Yes, as long as you have not tapped “I confirm and vote”: “Change my choices” takes you back to the ballot. After you confirm, the vote is final.
What is the voting receipt?+
A code like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX given to you at the end. On “Check my voting receipt”, it proves that your vote was counted, without revealing your choice.
Can I vote for someone else?+
No. Voting is personal, with no proxy; each person votes with their own code, from their own device.
Extraordinary General Assembly and rules
Which statutes apply?+
The statutes of 18 December 2022. The proposal for revised statutes was not adopted: only the urgent election rules (R0 to R9) are submitted to the 2026 EGA.
How is the EGA held?+
In four sessions (Maadi, Faisal, Sheikh Zayed, Sakan Misr) with the same text; the votes are added together. The first session takes place in Maadi on Saturday 17 October at 7 pm.
Who can vote at the EGA?+
Any member listed in the register, with no payment condition. One member = one vote, only once, with no proxy.
Is the voting method put to the vote?+
No. The 2022 statutes do not set a voting method; the Commission, which is in charge of organising the elections, chose online voting. It is presented for information.
Where can I read the texts?+
The 2022 statutes, the report on the amendments and the explanatory file on the resolutions: in the Documents section of the app.
Observers and vote monitoring
Who can be an observer?+
Anyone appointed by a candidate; the Commission creates their account, linked to that candidate. A candidate can appoint several observers.
What does an observer see?+
The turnout, the turnout register (who voted and when), the check calls, the anonymous ballot box after closing and the statements. Never a voter's choice.
How does the observer know that it was members who voted?+
Each line of the turnout register is checked against the final voter list (“not on the list” and “double vote” counters); the list is locked by a fingerprint at opening; and the observer calls voters drawn at random.
How can the votes be recounted?+
At closing, the anonymous ballot box (one ballot per line, with no name) can be downloaded as a CSV file. You recount it in Excel and compare it with the official report; its SHA-256 fingerprint proves that it has not changed.
What happens if an observer does not agree?+
They state written reservations at opening or at closing: these appear word for word in the official report, and they can file a claim within 24 hours.
What are the limits of the monitoring?+
It proves that the voters are members, each of them only once, and that the count is correct. It cannot prove that a member did not give away their code: this is why there are check calls and the rule “never share your code”.
Trust: “The vote can be rigged”
Can the platform administrator rig the votes?+
Security does not rely on trusting one person, but on checks that everyone can verify. Each voter receives a voting receipt and a confirmation e-mail. The number of ballots must equal the number of voters in the turnout register. Each ballot carries an integrity fingerprint: a ballot changed directly in the database is detected and removed from the count. The published results are sealed by a fingerprint: any later change can be seen. Every operation is recorded in the audit log.
What stops someone from adding fake votes?+
A ballot is only created together with a line in the turnout register: the voter's name, the time and the code channel. Both are counted: if there were more ballots than register lines, the fraud would be visible. And each register line matches a voter on the published final list: a fake voter would be spotted by any member.
And if someone votes in my place?+
They would need the one-time code sent to your WhatsApp or your e-mail: 6 digits, valid for 5 minutes, 3 attempts. After each vote, the voter receives a confirmation e-mail: if you receive this confirmation without having voted, report it at once and the Commission will examine the case within the period for claims.
Can the Commission change my number or my e-mail to receive my code?+
No. After the voter list is frozen (21 November) and during the vote, the identity and contact details of an approved voter can no longer be changed by anyone: the platform refuses it. Any earlier change is recorded in the audit log.
Does the Commission know the results before the end?+
No. During the vote, the Commission only sees the turnout (number of voters). The results can only be calculated after voting closes, at 8 pm.
Who checks the Commission?+
The members themselves: the voter list is published, with a period for claims; the results are published with the detail for each position; everyone can check their receipt; challenges are accepted for 24 hours. The platform also has an observer role (viewing only, with no changes) that the Commission can open to the candidates' representatives.
Isn't a paper vote safer?+
A paper vote also relies on trust: who guards the ballot box, who counts, who carries the ballots from one focal point to another. Online, there is no ballot box to carry, no lost ballot and no hand-counting error, and every voter can check that their vote was recorded.
Secret ballot: “People will know who I voted for”
Can people know who voted?+
Yes, as in any election: the turnout register shows who voted and at what time. This is what stops a person from voting twice. It never shows who they voted for.
Can anyone know who I voted for?+
No. The turnout register (who voted) and the ballot box (the ballots) are two separate registers, with no link at all between them. The ballot carries no name, no number, no date and no IP address, and its identifier is chosen at random. Your receipt proves that you voted, but does not reveal your choice.
Does my receipt or the confirmation e-mail show my choice?+
No. The receipt is a random code that only lets you check that your vote was recorded. The e-mail confirms the date of the vote, never the choice.
Can someone see my screen or my choice while I vote?+
Only if you vote in front of them. Vote alone, on your own phone. Nobody, not even a member of the Commission, should ask you for your code or your choice.
Can I be forced to show my vote?+
No. No page lets you see your ballot again after sending it: you cannot prove to anyone who you voted for, so nobody can demand it.
Access: “Not everyone can vote online”
I don't have a smartphone, or I am not comfortable with the Internet.+
Voting works on any phone or computer with a browser. A trial vote is open from 21 November to 2 December so you can practise. The Commission's support team answers on WhatsApp, and Commission members help members during the tour of the focal points.
I have no Internet on voting day.+
Voting is open from 8 am to 8 pm: a few minutes online are enough, with mobile data or Wi-Fi.
My spouse and I have only one phone.+
The “one device, one vote” rule protects against group voting on the same phone. So each person votes on a different device: another phone, a computer or a tablet.
I don't receive my code.+
The code comes by WhatsApp or by e-mail, as you choose. If one does not work, ask for it through the other channel. Check that your number and your e-mail are up to date in your record before the 13 November deadline.
I made a mistake in my choice.+
Before sending, a summary screen lets you correct it. Once the ballot is sent, it is final, like a ballot dropped into the ballot box.
Technology: “The platform is not reliable”
What if the platform breaks down during the vote?+
Voting lasts all day: an outage of a few minutes does not stop anyone from voting. A vote only counts when it is fully recorded: either it is recorded completely, or not at all, and you can start again.
What if someone hacks the platform?+
Encrypted connection (HTTPS), one-time codes, limits on attempts against robots, audit log, and backups. A ballot changed directly in the database is detected by its fingerprint and is not counted.
Can someone vote twice?+
No. A voter can vote only once: a second attempt is refused, even if two submissions arrive at the same time.
Why trust a new platform?+
Because it has been tested: a full simulation and a trial vote open to all voters before election day. So everyone can see how it works before casting their vote.
Where is our data stored? Who has access to it?+
On a secure server. Only members of the Commission can access it, each according to the rights of their role, and every sensitive access is logged. The data is used only for the life of the association and is never sold or shared.
Legitimacy: “This is not provided for in the statutes”
Do the 2022 statutes allow online voting?+
The 2022 statutes set no voting method: they only say that the president is elected by single-member ballot (Art. VIII). They give the Commission the task of organising the elections (Art. VI, para. IV). Choosing how the vote is held is part of this task.
Why not let the Assembly choose the voting method?+
The system is ready and tested, at no cost to the association. The choice of voting method for future elections will be set by the revised statutes, once adopted, or by the next Commission. Members' comments are collected at the Assemblies.
Does online voting leave some members out?+
It is the opposite: a paper vote is only open to those who can travel to the polling station on election day. Online, members from all focal points vote without travelling, from 8 am to 8 pm.
Money and interests: “Someone is profiting from this”
How much does the platform cost the association?+
Nothing. The platform is developed and offered free of charge to the community. Online voting also avoids renting halls, printing ballots and buying ballot boxes.
What are the 100 USD for the card used for?+
The digital card serves as the voter card and as the membership card for the whole 2027-2029 term. Every payment gives a numbered receipt. Only justified election expenses are taken from this money, and the balance, the register and the supporting documents are handed over to the next Bureau.
Do I have to pay to vote at the Extraordinary General Assemblies?+
No. Every member listed in the register votes at the Assemblies, with no payment condition.
Does the platform's designer support a candidate?+
The platform applies the same rules to all candidates: same conditions, same ballot, same order of processing. The Commission does not put forward any candidate, and its members cannot be candidates without resigning first.
Results and appeals: “We won't be able to check anything”
How do I check that my vote was counted?+
With your receipt, on the “Check my receipt” page: it confirms that your vote is included in the election.
When are the results published?+
Provisional results on Sunday 13 December, then 24 hours for challenges; final results and handover on Tuesday 15 December.
What if I challenge the results?+
A written claim, with reasons, is sent to the Commission within 24 hours after the provisional results; the Commission decides within 24 hours.
What if a candidate is alone for a position?+
They are not elected automatically: voters vote “For”, “Against” or blank, and the candidate must get more than 50% of the voters (rule submitted to the Assembly).
How can I know that the published results were not changed afterwards?+
When they are published, the results are sealed by a digital fingerprint: if even one figure changes later, the difference is flagged.
